We are thrilled to announce our showing for the Liverpool European Festival 2023
Artists Lou Chapelle and Carolyn Saint-Pé are proud to present a new video and sound exhibition alongside La Petite Ecole de Liverpool to celebrate Eurovision 2023.
"The project will present how proud we are to be of a dual language nationality, and how it makes us different. We also want to celebrate how welcome we feel, and what links we have created with the local community in Liverpool and beyond.
Last year we received funding from the French Embassy to develop a project and artwork around the theme of dual/multi languages called 'Proses Franglaises'. We realised that as a community we are going through the same cultural and existential questions, having to shift out sense of belonging and redefining our identity. We feel 'French' as much as 'English'"
Songwriter Saint-Pé has created a poem/song to express these feelings, whilst Chapelle has created a video installation using projectors, screens and fans to create an ever-moving portrait, reflecting ever-changing identities.
The video itself will be French with some English, and all visitors will also receive a printed translated version of Saint-Pé's song.
We're thrilled to announce that our #Eurovision project is funded by #EuroGrant. Find out about all the exciting EuroGrant projects here: https://www.cultureliverpool.co.uk/news/eurogrant-funding-helps-sprinkle-eurovision-glitter-across-liverpool-city-region/ #Eurovision2023 #EuroStreet
