“Passage” is a collaborative exhibition by @amizanders, @liv_vacanti, and @elizabethchllnr, that touches on themes of ritual, womanhood, and individual narratives.
“It’s the beginning of a new chapter, the transition from one experience to another, the shedding of skin, the journey through life.”
Ami Zanders is an artist who creates work based on themes of motherhood, heritage, rituals, arrested development, aging, and remembering. As a gen Xer her art is inspired by 80s sci-fi movies, cartoons, and MTV.
Through etching and fabric manipulation, Olivia Vacanti’s work lets the viewer interact physically and emotionally. Vacanti explores themes of culture and belonging through themes of womanhood. This links back to her personal history, showing the harsh imagery versus peoples stories. Her past work also explores themes of powerplay, linking to ideas of barriers and voyeurism.
👉🏻 This exhibition is the first in a series of short collaborative projects by @elizabethchllnr, as part of a larger body of research into collaborative curatorial methodologies and exhibition roles. Keep your eyes peeled for the next exhibition coming soon. 👀
