Daniel Marsh

Daniel’s practice explores Expanded Painting, an alternate way to consider Painting. He aims to re-contextualise painting as a discipline that many repeatedly declare as dead. Often, he subverts typical painting processes by borrowing from other forms of art making, such as sculpture and drawing, to introduce new approaches into his work.

Dan recommends Phyllida Barlow,
“Discovering the work of Phyllida Barlow revealed to me that making itself is a viable theme of contemporary artwork. Her attitudes towards material and form, and her embrace of a lack of subject were very liberating in uncovering what I could then make in my own practice.”
