George Welsh
George explores a variety of ideas and notions through his work. From autobiographical to fiction, George draws upon his own experiences, the habitats and the communities he finds himself. He takes insight from literature, with a recent series of large-scale paintings inspired by the modern classic ‘Lord of the Flies’. George predominantly works in oil paint but not exclusively. He demonstrates his versatility as a painter through a range of expressive mark-making and at times works with an element of spontaneity whilst still applying a more traditional understanding of form, line, composition, and colour to his work. Often the act of making stimulates new ideas which inform the development of his creative practice.
