Parice Bowyer

A modern day Sartre, Parice Bowyer is re-contextualising existentialism for the 21st century. Delving into their personal inquiries into angst, they examines our understanding of reality in relation to issues of memory and sense of self, inviting the audience to explore their own in their immersive, highly saturated works.

Primarily working in film, photography and performance, Parice entangles these disciplines as a means navigate their literature and research based practice. Examples include: I Want You to be Aware of Your Stomach, which won the Hans Ulrich Obrist Selection Prize. As well as In This Fatuous Comedy of Life, a one night performance at CBS Gallery and Studios.

Parice is also 1/3 of the performance collective Rudolf and the Schwarzkoglers, with the writer Kaylen Forsyth and fellow TRS artist Nicole Stiff.

Parice recommends Anthea Hamilton’s ‘The Squash’. ‘The performance is absurd, it’s lack of explanation adding to the surrealism. You can’t help but get drawn in, following the squash as it lounges and dances across the minimalist landscape.’
